Oil Spill, Volunteers, and Unemployment

Years ago, when I worked in the construction industry, APS was going to build an electrical powerhouse in the middle of nowhere. In order to get manpower, they needed housing and a place for the men to eat. They built what is called a "man camp". These quarters were built to house thousands of men. They built a dining building to feed all these men. They were provided breakfast and after breakfast, you could pick up a brown bag that had a lunch in it, then there was the evening dining. Nothing fancy, but they were able to attract the thousands of men to build their powerhouse.
This brings us to the present day. While people volunteer to help clean up this mess BP created, they need to be "paid". Not one person should be "volunteering" for free. BP should be building man camps along all the Gulf Coast right now. They should be hiring thousands of workers to clean up this environmental disaster. Not only would this help our coastline, it would help our unemployment situation too.
PS: Hey BP, you can hire me to run this operation and I can guarantee you it would be cheaper than what you are probably paying your top people in charge right now and I would get it done right.
